WAT PRODKETCHETTHARAM

(Niagara Falls Buddhist
Meditation Center, New York, USA)
1.
Reason for Project Determination
The city of Niagara Falls, New
York is located in the area of North-East US on a border with Canada. Most of
New York’s area is dominated by forests and mountains guiding oneselves into a sense
of calm and peace, suitable for practicing relaxation and meditation. As a
result, many temples and meditation centers of Mahayana (Zen) and Vajrayana
(Tibet) Buddhism can be found around Niagara Falls. However, there is neither
Thailand’s temples nor mediation centers in this city.
Most Venerable
Phrakhruvisitdhammaros, the abbot and meditation master of Wat
Prodketchettharam Thailand, had travelled to America on the missionary’s
meeting occasion stated to his student, Venerable Phramaha Piya Uttamapunyo, a
head monk of Buddhist Meditation Center in Pittsburgh and secretary of Overseas
Buddhist Missionary Monks Class XII who’s working to propagate Buddhism in
America for 10 years that nowadays, many foreigners become interested in
mindfulness and meditation which turns to be a trend called ‘mindful living’ in
the society, we should build the center passing down of Buddha’s teachings
